Program Facilitator

Hi, I’m Sofia!

A little bit about me—I’m currently studying psychology and sociology at university, and I’m a complete water baby at heart.

The ocean has always been a source of support and grounding for me when life starts to feel hectic, so I was thrilled to learn there’s actually a scientific term for that—‘blue mind’! The work OceanMind does to provide young people with this experience demonstrates time and time again the ocean's powerful ability to regulate, soothe, and bring joy. The pure happiness I feel when catching a wave is like nothing else, and helping open doors for young people to experience that same feeling is a dream!

I believe nurturing mental health is incredibly important, especially in youth, and I feel so privileged to be part of an organisation that equips young people with the tools and opportunities to connect with themselves, nature, and others. Assisting them in developing a strong foundation of coping strategies that will support them through adolescence and beyond is a mission I’m truly proud to be a part of!
